There are three
content categories in mathematical knowledge they are,
1. Facts: Facts are those which can
be Facts are in single occurrence and predict values.
2. Ex: 01=1, π=22/7 etc. observed and can measure
which was already proved.
The facts are static.
Ex:
* The symbol of Addition is “+”.
* 16 is divisible by 4.
* Triangle is a three sided
geometrical figure.
2. Concepts: Concepts are the factors
which have a clear cut explanations.
Class of stimuli
which have common characteristics.
Ex-1:
Triangle, , Quadrilaterals,Circle etc.
*Name: Name of class or stimuli.
* Attribute: Essential or non-essentials, they are different.
* Attributed values: Some are having and other do not have values.
* Rule: Principles, definitions, theories etc.
Examples-2:
a)
Triangle
|
3 sides are equal
|
Equilateral triangle
|
b)
Even numbers
|
Adding any two even numbers we get even number only.
|
6
+2 = 8
|
3. Generalisation:
Statement expressing in relationship with two or more concepts.
Ex-1: Triangle,
types of triangle, area, quadrilateral etc.
Ex-2: 1 + 2 = 2 + 1
3 = 3
Therefore In general a + b = b + a
4.
Procedures: These are sequence of facts, they are arranged in an order.
Step by step process of mathematical operations. Or It is the Statement used to
solve the problem step by step,
Ex-1:
1+ (2+3) = (1 +2) + 3
1 + 5 = 3 + 3
6 = 6
Ex-2: *Commutative property
a + b = b +a
* Law of exponential
am
X an = amn
Ex-3: 2 + 6 ÷ 3 – 1 x 2
2
+ 2 – 2 = 2
